Lesson Objectives

20-Minute Teaching Flow

0-5 Minutes: Introduction

  • Share what psoriasis is using simple facts.
  • Clarify common myths in one minute.

5-10 Minutes: Class Discussion

  • Ask students how words and behavior affect others.
  • Review respectful class norms.

10-15 Minutes: Kindness Activity

  • Role-play kind responses to common school situations.
  • Practice inclusive language as a class.

15-20 Minutes: Reflection & Exit Prompt

  • Students share one fact and one kind action.
  • Teacher reinforces classroom commitment.

Discussion Questions

  1. What is psoriasis, and what is one fact you learned?

Kindness Activities

Activity 1: Kindness Language Sort

Students sort sample phrases into “Kind and Helpful” or “Not Kind.” Discuss why wording matters.

Activity 2: Respect Role-Play

In pairs, students role-play respectful responses to scenarios involving visible differences.

Activity 3: Class Kindness Pledge

Students write one promise for how they will show empathy and inclusion this week.

Activity 4: Reflection Card

Students complete: “One fact I learned is ___, and one kind action I will take is ___.”
